The Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantseman Constituency in the Central region, Hon. Ekow Quansah Hayford has been shot dead by some unknown armed robbers this dawn, Friday, October 9, 2020.
Plan B FM source in the area narrated that, information he got is that the MP was on his way home from a campaign he and some members of his party had embarked on as part of efforts aimed at retaining his seat ahead of the December 7, 2020 polls when he was identified during a robbery attack.
The source who prefers to remain anonymous continued that, during the robbery attack, the MP identified himself; a situation which reportedly angered the robbers who subsequently shot him dead with the explanation that he and his colleagues Members of Parliament were the reason for a lot of the challenges Ghanaians faced.
He is said to have been shot twice by one of the five armed robbers who went on robbery spree on that stretch of road. The robbers reportedly fled the scene to avoid arrest.
The body of the MP has been deposited at the morgue of Saltpond Municipal Hospital with the police said to have commenced investigation into the killing of the MP. Hon. Ekow Quansah Hayford was 49 years old.
