A man who is rumoured to be mentally challenged has been arrested at the Parliament House of Ghana for causing significant damage to four vehicles with an axe concealed in his outfit.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, reportedly gained access to the premises under unclear circumstances.

According to some eyewitnesses, he appeared agitated while strolling the premises.

Security personnel stationed at the Parliament House quickly intervened and apprehended the man before he could cause further destruction. Upon being questioned, he made a startling claim, stating that he was “sent by God” to carry out the attack.

Authorities are currently investigating the matter to ascertain the suspect’s motives, mental state, and how he managed to smuggle the axe into a highly secured area. It is unclear whether the act was premeditated or if the suspect has a history of mental health challenges.

The damaged vehicles reportedly belong to officials who were present at Parliament House.
