Manchester City Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan Tests Positive For COVID-19

Manchester City have been dealt another blow following the news midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has tested positive for COVID-19.

Gundogan is now the third City player who has tested positive since the start of the season, with Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte also falling ill.

His positive test means he will play no part in Monday night’s Premier League clash against Wolves, while he’ll also miss the League Cup game against Bournemouth and Thursday and meeting with Leicester City next Sunday.

In a statement on Monday, City sad Gundogan would now observe a period of quarantine in line with UK government guidelines.

‘Manchester City FC can confirm that Ilkay Gundogan has tested positive for COVID-19, read a statement on the club’s website.

‘Ilkay is now observing a 10-day period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK Government protocol on quarantine.

‘Everyone at the Club wishes Ilkay a speedy recovery.’
