A young man resident in Akyem Afosu in the Birim North District in the Eastern region has been shot to death by some unknown persons. The young man was illegally cutting down trees at night in the Oseikrom forest in the area. He was there together with other persons when a gun was shot in the air.

The gun was shot again and this time around hit the young. Due to this, all the other persons in the forest cutting down trees illegally escaped for their lives. According to the assemblyman of the area, Isaac Amponsah, it is supposed that the deceased hails from Amoana Praso also in the district but is resident in Afosu which is closer to the forest where he does his illegal activity.

The police were called upon and the body has been deposited at the Community Hospital Morgue in Mamanso. However, they have not yet found out the one who shot the gun, whether it was a forest guard, hunter or robber.
