A man has been brutally killed by his co-tenant at Suibo in Suaman Dadieso District of the Western North Region, following an accusation of cutlass theft.
The shocking incident has left the local community aghast.
In an interview with Happy Kasiebo the Assembly Member for Oparekrom Electoral Area, Solomon Adukpe, revealed that the deceased identified as Mathew Adu, had taken a cutlass belonging to the accused, whose identity he does not know because he recently moved to the area and has been there for less than two weeks.
Mr. Adukpe explained that after Mathew returned from work with the cutlass, he encountered the accused near their home.
He said the accused person requested the return of his cutlass, but Mathew said he was going to put it at the original place he took it from.
He noted that during the exchange, the accused attempted to retrieve the cutlass, leading to a struggle in which Mathew pulled the cutlass which accidentally slashed the accused’s palm.
Enraged by the injury and believing it was intentional, the accused took the cutlass from Mathew and butchered him.
Mr. Adukpe said Mathew was rushed to Dadieso Government Hospital but did not survive and his body has been deposited at a morgue in Enchi.
He added that the accused is now in police custody, assisting with investigation.
