The court, presided over by Her Ladyship Nana Asantewaa Attakorah, heard that the incident occurred after the suspect, who lived in the same neighbourhood as the victim, lured the child with toffee into his room on May 9, 2026.
According to police, led by ASP Godwin Nornoo of the Awutu Bawjiase District Command, the girl was later assaulted after entering the suspect’s room. She reportedly disclosed the incident to her parents, who immediately lodged a complaint with the police, leading to his arrest.
During court proceedings, the accused pleaded guilty to the charge. The court subsequently convicted and sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment.
The case was confirmed in court proceedings, with journalist Kofi Adjei reporting from the courtroom.
