Majority Needs Numbers By Impersonating Absentees – Okudzeto Ablakwa

Majority Needs Numbers By Impersonating Absentees – Okudzeto Ablakwa
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Speaking about the video of a lady purporting to be the Dome Kwabenya Member of Parliament and the minster for gender, children and social relations, Sarah Adwoa Safo, that has gone viral on social media on Wednesday, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said that it is clear how those who claimed to be Majority in Parliament are struggling with numbers to win votes especially when they want to unconstitutionally approve a rejected 2022 Budget Statement and Economic Policy.

Speaking on the issue on Accra-based JoyNews on Wednesday, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, said that they are currently investigating the video that is circulating on social media about Adwoa Safo being impersonated by a lady in nose masks

“When you don’t have the numbers, why do you call yourselves Majority. In fact, Speaker Alban Bagbin made it clear to them times without number that there is no Majority in Parliament. Look what happened yesterday. The First Speaker, Joseph Osei Owusu, counted himself as part of the Majority while Adwoa Safo is also reportedly impersonated,” he said.

Reports indicate that Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo was absent from the country for sometime now following a leave granted her by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. However, after the expiration of her leave term, the President further extended it and has officially assigned her PA to represent her in public matters until her return.

However, Adwoa Safo showed up on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday (December 1) to deny claims that she was impersonated during Tuesday’s sitting in the House. According to her she was present in the House and no one has been there to represent or impersonate her whatsoever.

Meanwhile, the Minority Leader in the House, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu has said that henceforth all approval and/or disapproval of bills presented to Parliament shall be done by voting. This follows after it has been observed that even the Majority doesn’t have the numbers to have a resounding victory over things that may be inimical to public welfare.
