Mahama Relaunches Sanitation Day – NDC Communicator Applauds Move

An NDC communicator for Ningo Prampram, Richard Selorm Avedetsi, has commended former President John Dramani Mahama for his initiative to relaunch the National Sanitation Day exercise.

Speaking on Nkosuo Nsem on Plan B 104.5 FM, Mr. Avedetsi stressed that sanitation should remain a top priority for every Ghanaian community. He noted that in the past, town councils were actively involved in ensuring cleanliness by inspecting households and sanctioning those who failed to keep their surroundings tidy.

“Gone are the days when town councils went around to arrest and inspect citizens who refused to tidy up their homes. Now, we don’t educate ourselves on sanitation anymore,” he lamented.

According to him, the revival of the Sanitation Day will not only restore discipline but also reawaken public education on environmental cleanliness, which has declined in recent years.

Mr. Avedetsi further urged citizens to actively participate in the exercise, emphasizing that maintaining good sanitation is a shared responsibility that directly affects public health and community development.
