President John Dramani Mahama will leave the country on Sunday, August 17, for a two-nation official visit to Japan and Singapore, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and attracting investments to Ghana.
In Japan, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Government Spokesperson, in a statement, noted that the President will participate in the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IX), where he will speak at a plenary session focused on promoting trade and investment.
He will also speak at the Ghana Presidential Investment Forum, highlighting Ghana’s investment prospects under the Resetting Ghana agenda.
President Mahama is also expected to meet with top Japanese officials, including Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, and executives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), to discuss cooperation in infrastructure, trade, and technical support.
Following the Japan trip, President Mahama will continue to Singapore for a three-day state visit. While there, he will meet with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.
He will also participate in the Africa-Singapore Business Forum and deliver an address at an investment forum aimed at promoting Ghana’s reforms and encouraging Singaporean investment in Ghana.
The visits, according to the Presidency, are part of Ghana’s strategy to deepen partnerships in technology, finance, infrastructure, human capital development, and expand market access for Ghanaian products.
The delegation is expected to return after completing the engagements in Singapore.
