Mahama must act against NDC officials interfering in galamsey arrests — NPP Communicator

“Bawumia as president still cannot end galamsey” – NPP Communicator warns against politicising Illegal mining
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Richard Anning, a member of the communication team for the Tema Central Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on President John Dramani Mahama to take decisive action against alleged NDC officials accused of interfering in the arrest of illegal miners.

Speaking to Ohene Kinnah on Plan B FM’s Ebaanosen show, Anning warned that the President risks being perceived as complicit in the fight against illegal mining if swift disciplinary measures are not taken against party officials involved in such actions.

His comments come in the wake of an incident at the Kobro Forest in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region, where four suspected illegal miners were arrested. Reports indicate that some political figures believed to be affiliated with the governing NDC attempted to secure the release of the suspects, leading to their subsequent arrest by the police.

According to Anning, political interference in law enforcement undermines the country’s fight against galamsey and weakens public confidence in government’s commitment to tackling the menace.
