A vehicle burst into flames this morning on the M25, forcing the closure of three out of four lanes on the anticlockwise carriageway of the London Orbital Motorway near the junction to Heathrow Airport around 8.17am. There was heavy traffic on the way to the M4 junction but conditions should be back to normal later this morning.

Travel and traffic service Inrix said: “Two lanes closed and queueing traffic due to car fire on M25 anticlockwise after J14 A3113 Airport Way (Heathrow).

“Congestion to J15 (M4 Interchange).

“Lanes one and two (of four) are closed.

“Three fire engines are on the scene and have now extinguished the car.”

At 8.38am, only one in four lanes remained closed.

There were no long queues anymore but traffic continued to be slow.

Inrix said: “One lane closed and slow traffic due to recovery work and car fire on M25 anticlockwise after J14 A3113 Airport Way (Heathrow).

“Lane one (of four) is closed.”

Normal traffic is expected between 9.30am and 9.45am.
