A lawyer at Food Reserve Agency has killed her two year old son, Zambia Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has confirmed.
Ayden Sipalo of Lusaka’s Ibex Hill died on Tuesday this week after being given suspected poison known as blue death insect powder by the mother, Namwene Phiri aged 31, identified as a lawyer at Food Reserve Agency.
Ms.Phiri also poisoned herself in a suicide attempt and was found lying on the bed next to her son with foam of vomits on the mouth.
She left a written statement dated February 15, 2022 confirming having committed suicide on that day.
Ms.Phiri is currently admitted to Levy Mwanawasa Teaching Hospital in a critical condition and is under police guard while the son’s body was deposited in the mortuary.
