Legendary sports commentator Joe Lartey dies aged 96

The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has announced the death of Mr Joachim Awuley Lartey popularly known as Joe Lartey.

He is said to have died on April 26, 2024. According to SWAG, details of his funeral will be announced later.

Joe Lartey was born on June 6, 1927. He is an old student of Accra Academy and served as the first president of SWAG.

He was a broadcasting genius popularly known as “Over to You”.

Joe Lartey started his Broadcasting journey at the Ghana Broadcasting Cooperation (GBC) in 1961 as a football commentator.

He became loved
