A leaked internal report commissioned by the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman has revealed key factors behind the party’s poor performance in the 2024 elections.
Conducted across all 47 constituencies, the study identified the controversial delegate system for electing candidates as a major cause of the defeat.
Economic hardships under the previous government and widespread corruption allegations also significantly affected voter confidence.
Additionally, perceptions of former President Akufo-Addo’s family controlling the government further dented the party’s image.
On Dr. Bawumia, respondents believed he remained under Akufo-Addo’s influence, and his perceived involvement in the Bawku chieftaincy conflict worsened his appeal.
However, 98% of respondents dismissed religion and tribal factors as influencing the election outcome.
