There are rumors that there are some internal conflicts amongst members of the ruling New Patriotic Party concerning the final decision of the President to engage the IMF for a bailout. Some are alleging that the Bawumia camp is in total disagreement with the Finance Minister camp on some of the decision he is taking.
Today, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party, Chairman Oye, has descended on the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta. He identified himself as a close friend of the Kuffour government. He stated boldly that the Finance Minister has disgraced the New Patriotic Party which Kuffour handed over to President Nana Addo. He called for the resignation of the Finance Minister since according to him, Ken Ofori Atta is the worse Finance Minister Ghana has ever had.
”Honorable Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, you claim you went to Yale University. I want to tell you that you are very dumb and incompetent. You are the worse Finance Minister Ghana has ever had. Your brother, the President, cannot tell you this.
“It is either you resign and send your disgrace away because you people have disgrace the New Patriotic Party. This is not the NPP that Kuffour left for us. I have resigned and left the party. I am waiting for better people to take over the party and I will come back. This is a disgrace to the party.”
