A man believed to be in his late 40s has been found dead at Mamponteng, a district in the Kwabre East Municipal Assembly.

It remains unclear how the man died, but he is suspected to have been lynched.

Details emerging from the area have revealed that the unidentified man was a suspected thief who was unsuccessful in his operation.

Residents in the area complained that the area, which is a new site, has become dangerous since thieves have invaded the area.

The residents told Okesieba Nana Kwaku Asare that the thieves break into their rooms in their absence to steal their valuables.

Reporting on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Okesieba Nana Kwaku Asare said the residents said the thieves sometimes attack them, and they had also plotted to deal ruthlessly with anyone caught.

He said the deceased may have been caught in another community and dragged to where he was found dead.

He added that scissors were found with the man after he was discovered dead.

A stone, which his attackers allegedly hit his head with, was also found beside the body.

Meanwhile, the Assembly member for the area, Darlington Benjamin Kankam, confirmed that thieves have invaded the area.

To help address the challenge, he revealed that he would be working with other stakeholders to establish a community watchdog committee to help maintain law and order in the area.

He said since he was elected a few months ago, the issue of theft has been the major challenge confronting the residents.
