A High Court in Koforidua has dismissed an election petition filed by the 2024 National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Suhum, Prince Kwadwo Addo Tabiri, challenging the election of Frank Asiedu Bekoe, popularly known as Protozoa, as Member of Parliament for the constituency.

In its ruling, the court held that the petitioner failed to establish sufficient evidence of electoral irregularities to warrant the annulment of the results.
The court consequently upheld the declaration of Frank Asiedu Bekoe as the duly elected Member of Parliament for Suhum.

The court also awarded GH¢200,000 in costs and damages against the petitioner, rejecting a higher amount proposed by Kwadjo Asante after the respondents had initially sought GH¢500,000 following the year-long trial.
Kwadjo Asante, who contested the 2024 parliamentary election as an independent candidate, had prayed the court to annul the Suhum parliamentary results and order a re-run.
The court, however, ruled that the decision declaring Frank Asiedu Bekoe, also known as Protozoa, as winner must stand.
Frank Asiedu Bekoe won the parliamentary seat with 16,855 votes, ahead of NDC’s Prince Kwadwo Addo Tabiri, who polled 15,259 votes. Kwadjo Asante placed third with 14,860 votes.
NDC targets Suhum, Nsawam/Adoagyiri and Tolon for possible by-elections
Addressing the media after the ruling on Thursday, December 18, 2025, the Member of Parliament for Akuapim North, Sammi Awuku, said cross-examination by lawyers for the respondents exposed significant weaknesses in the petitioner’s case.
“The court dismissed the case on the basis that the petition had no basis to stand on. The court also declared that the cross-examination undertaken by Lawyer Nimako and his legal team exposed the petitioner’s lack of evidence in the petition that was filed before the High Court,” he said.
According to him, the deficiencies uncovered during cross-examination made it impossible for the court to overturn the outcome of the election.
