KNUST: Parent Collapses During Graduation After Realizing Ward Is Still In Level 200 After 4 Years

KNUST: More Than Thousand Students Likely To Defer Courses Due To Inability To Settle Fees

An Official of the University Relations Office of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe has disclosed that a parent fainted some two years ago after coming for the ward’s graduation ceremony only to realize she was still in level 200.

According to Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe the young lady succeeded in faking results slips for her parents and took school fees although she had been repeated because of poor academic performance.

The parents after four years wore their best cloths and came in for their ward’s Graduation only to be told that she is now in level two hundred.

“You give money to your child to go to school, whether the child is doing well, whether the child has paid school fees, whether the child is in good standing you don’t know and you don’t care.

There was a parent who came here about last two years coming to attend the child’s graduation only to realize the child was still in second year. That parent collapsed in the office of the Dean of Students. He had to call the ambulance to resuscitate that parent. So when you sit down for four years and you don’t know what your child is doing these are the kinds of shock you’ll receive,” he said.

Adding that “she actually gave her parents all the indication that she was actually part of the graduation batch for that particular year”.

Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe indicated that some students who have been suspended by the school still hang around and take school fees from their parents although they are no more students and that’s very worrying.

He used the opportunity to advise Ghanaian parents to check on their wards on what they do in school because there are things happening in the various Tertiary Institutions that needs to be checked.
