Ghanaian lawyer and historian, Lawyer Yaw Anokye Frimpong, has criticized the former administration led by Nana Akufo-Addo, describing its actions as an insult to Ghanaians.
In an interview on Plan B FM’s Ebaanosen show, hosted by Ohene Kinnah on Monday, February 17, 2025, Lawyer Yaw Anokye Frimpong expressed his disappointment that despite allocating funds for the construction of Agenda 111 hospitals over an eight-year period, former officials of the administration, including former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, continue to seek medical treatment abroad.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), in a press conference held in Accra on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, announced that Ken Ofori-Atta had been declared wanted as part of ongoing investigations.
“Ken Ofori-Atta has done more harm than good to Ghana during his tenure as Finance Minister,” Lawyer Frimpong stated.
“After eight years in office, you allocated funds for the construction of Agenda 111 hospitals, yet you and your brother, Asante Bediatuo, are receiving medical treatment abroad. This clearly suggests that the funds were misused rather than invested in building the hospitals,” he alleged.
Lawyer Anokye Frimpong further emphasized that it is an insult to Ghanaians for Ken Ofori-Atta to refuse medical treatment in Ghana, despite the resources that were supposedly allocated to improve the country’s healthcare system.
“By their fruits, we shall know them,” he added, accusing the former administration of recklessly mismanaging the country’s resources.
“Ken Ofori-Atta must face the law and undergo thorough investigations. He should stop playing with the minds of Ghanaians,” he concluded.
