The Minority Leader, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu has signified that, the Finance Minister of Ghana has not been paying mandatory 5% of total revenue to the District Assembly Common Fund for four consecutive years.

According to the 1992 constitution, the Finance Minister of Ghana is to give 5 percent of the total revenue of Ghana to the District Assembly Common Fund.

It has been established by the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu that, the Minister has failed to do this for four consecutive years. Thus, from 2018 to 2019 through 2020 to 2021.

In computing the total amount the Finance Minister has failed to give to the District Assembly Common Fund, the Minority Leader concluded that, this current government owes about Two billion, One hundred and Thirty-Three Million Ghana Cedis to the District Assembly Fund.

He has indicated that, it is for this basic reason that the various Regional Coordinating offices and District Assemblies have not been functional for some time now.
