The Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR) warmly congratulates Prof. Yaw Ampem Amoako, Principal Investigator of the Skin Neglected Tropical Diseases Research Group at KCCR, on his appointment as the new Medical Director of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), effective 1 September 2026.

Prof. Amoako is a distinguished clinician, researcher, and academic whose work has contributed to advancing research and understanding of skin neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), including Buruli ulcer.

His appointment to lead one of Ghana’s foremost teaching hospitals is a significant recognition of his experience, leadership, and commitment to healthcare, research, and medical education.

At KCCR, we are particularly proud to see one of our Principal Investigators take on this important leadership responsibility. We are confident that Prof. Amoako’s expertise and dedication will contribute to strengthening clinical services, research, training, and innovation at KATH.

As he begins this new chapter, KCCR wishes Prof. Yaw Ampem Amoako every success in his new role and looks forward to his continued contribution to advancing health research and improving healthcare in Ghana.
