The Komfo Anokye Doctors’ Association (KADA) has suspended its industrial action with effect from 6:00 p.m. on June 9, 2026, following what it described as fruitful engagements with key stakeholders and the timely intervention of Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, the association said the decision was reached after discussions involving the Hospital Board, management, and other stakeholders who have demonstrated commitment to addressing the concerns that led to the strike action.
KADA noted that while it remains determined to ensure the full resolution of the issues that triggered the industrial action, it carefully considered the impact of a prolonged strike on patient care and public health.
“The safety and well-being of patients and the broader public interest remain central to our responsibilities,” the statement said, explaining that this informed the decision to suspend the strike and continue dialogue with authorities.
The association expressed profound gratitude to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the hospital board, management, and all stakeholders for their efforts in facilitating discussions aimed at resolving the outstanding issues.
KADA also acknowledged the support of the National Executive Council and membership of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), as well as other health sector groups and unions that stood in solidarity with the doctors during the period of industrial action.
The association indicated that engagements will continue as efforts are made to achieve an amicable resolution of the concerns raised by its members.
