A TATA Bus with registration number GR 8575 A which jumped traffic has run into two other vehicles causing injuries to several passengers at Old Barrier on the Kasoa to Accra highway.

According to eyewitnesses accounts about the accident which occurred around 09:45 pm on Saturday July 23, 2022, the TATA Bus which was coming from the Kasoa end failed to stop when the traffic signaled red and run into a Taxi Cap with registration number GW 8439 – 19 from the Accra end of the traffic heading to Bortianor.

The TATA Bus hit the taxi at the front in the middle of the road and veered-off into the side of a stationary Ford Bus with registration number GE 5105 – 22 at the bus top with several passengers aboard.

The fifteen-seater commercial Ford bus was returning from Takoradi to Kaneshie, Accra before the unfortunate incident.

The injured who were mostly occupants of the Forrd bus numbering about nine (9) were immediately rushed to the Weija Gbawe Municipal Hospital (Akaway) by a passing by police pick up van.

The front and the side of both taxi and Ford bus were seriously mangled as a result of the impact.

The taxi cab driver whose condition was critical was immediately rushed to the hospital by a good Samaritan.

Driver and mate of the Ford Bus who narrated what happened to this reporter said the TATA Bus driver who was running at a top speed first hit the taxi cab which had a right of way after the traffic went green before running into the side of his vehicle injuring the passengers.

According to the Ford Driver who gave his name only as Duke, the TATA Bus would have run into commuters and sellers by the road had it not been where he packed.

The driver of the TATA Bus who was wearing a white shirt bolted immediately after the accident according to one eyewitness.

Another eyewitness however said there was no driver in the bus which crushed into the taxi and Ford bus.

The accident vehicles were subsequently tolled to the Weija Police Station at SCC.
