It’s wrong to reduce Ghana’s entertainment industry to just music – Lekzy

It’s wrong to reduce Ghana’s entertainment industry to just music – Lekzy

Ghanaian comedian and social commentator, Lekzy Decomic, has sparked a crucial conversation about the imbalance of recognition in Ghana’s entertainment industry.

Known for his witty humour and sharp observations, Lekzy took to Facebook recently to express his frustration with the disproportionate focus on music in entertainment talk shows.

According to Lekzy, it’s disheartening to watch recaps of December’s successful events, only to find that music dominates the conversation.

He wrote: It’s difficult watching entertainment talk shows recap December’s successful events when the focus is almost entirely on music. Meanwhile, fashion shows, poetry nights, stage plays, and multiple comedy shows also recorded impressive success.

Entertainment in Ghana often seems reduced to music alone. Interestingly, many of these non-music events even had the same pundits and hosts in attendance.”

The comedian, whose real name is Emmanuel Ansong is no stranger to making people laugh, but his latest post highlights a serious issue.

With a career spanning over a decade, Lekzy has established himself as a prominent voice in Ghana’s comedy scene and his post has sparked a wave of support from fellow artists and fans, who agree that non-music events deserve equal recognition.

“I wouldn’t say the sidelining is deliberate, but regardless of how well these art forms perform, they deserve equal recognition,” he added.
