Former captain of the Black Stars, Stephen Appiah has lamented over the administration of football in Ghana and believes it is time for ex-footballers to take part in the running of the game.
The 42-year-old seems dissatisfied with the drop in performances of the national teams following the first round exit of the Black Stars at their last two international tournaments.
According to Appiah, football is run by footballers and if the game will thrive in Ghana then it is time to involve the legends.
“It’s sad because the contacts that we have and the people we can pick phones and call, when I mention names, you will be shocked,” he said on Sompa TV.
“At times we don’t get the chance, I mean the legends, former players, we don’t get the chance. “I have learnt something, football is run by footballers, it is not about English or the grammar. It is all about the wisdom.
“When I went to Italy, I didn’t understand Italian but when the coach communicates I get it.”
Appiah played a brief role as Black Stars team manager during Kwesi Appiah’s last spell as coach of the Black Stars.
