‘It Is A monstrous lie’: Thaddeus Sory Responds To CJ Probe Allegations

‘Why is Parliament apologizing? Ofori-Atta is not above the law’ – Thaddeus Sory

Lawyer Thaddeus Sory denies claims of a private meeting with judges in the Chief Justice removal probe, calling the allegation a “monstrous lie” on Facebook.

Prominent lawyer Thaddeus Sory has strongly denied allegations linking him to a private meeting with members of the committee probing the potential removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

Describing the claims as a “monstrous lie,” Sory took to Facebook to publicly refute the accusations.

His response comes in the wake of a petition filed by Alfred Ababio Kumi, a former parliamentary aspirant and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who called on President John Dramani Mahama to dissolve the five-member committee.

Kumi alleges that Justices Gabriel Pwamang and Samuel Adibu-Asiedu were seen having dinner with Sory at Santoku Restaurant on May 15, following the committee’s first sitting.

Kumi claimed that the group, including Supreme Court Justice Yonni Kulendi, was overheard discussing matters related to the ongoing petition against the Chief Justice, thus compromising the committee’s impartiality.

But in a firm rebuttal posted on his Facebook page, Sory wrote, “It is a monstrous lie. No such meeting took place. It is very easy to fact check that. We know those who get justice through negotiation

.”

The alleged meeting has sparked controversy and raised concerns over the integrity of the committee’s work.

But Sory’s denial adds a new dimension to the unfolding case, as pressure mounts on the presidency to address the claims.

The five-member committee, established on April 22, 2025, continues to face scrutiny amid calls for transparency and fairness in handling the sensitive inquiry.
