The Minister of Health, Hon. Kwaku Agyeman Manu who made the call at the ceremony stressed that despite the challenges ‘that has bedeviled the health sector as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic, the sector is still robust.
Mr. Agyeman Manu was joined by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the International Maritime Hospital International Maritime Hospital Dr Sylvester Yaw Oppong ; board chairman of Ghana Ports And Harbours Authority Isaac Osei to mark the occasion.
Addressing the durbar, Mr. Agyeman Manu commended the management of IMAH for the investment they have made in the country’s health sector.
He said the Ministry of Health was doing everything within its capacity to give existing health facilities in the country, as part of its quota to promote quality health care in the country.
The Minister also touted the government’s handling of the Covid 19 pandemic. He was quick to add that the country’s contact tracing has been a success.
He appealed to the management of the hospital to eschew intolerable ventures and produce accountability, sustainability and quality health care in its operations.
The CEO of IMAH, Dr Sylvester Yaw Oppong said since its establishment in September 2017, has paid attention to its core values of providing excellent health care services.
He added that, after careful analysis, management has identified consumer service as one area that needs strengthening.
He also said the facility has seen significant increase in it scope of service from eight specialized service to twenty-two cardiac catheterization. He further added that management are initiating plans to make IMAH a specialized teaching hospital.
