Lady Marilyn Abeka-Daniels, an adjunct lecturer at the University of Media, Arts and Communication, says injustice serves as the spark that ignites lasting grudges and should be avoided.
In an interview with Nana Asabea on Plan B FM’s Nyansapɔ Fie show, Lady Abeka-Daniels stated that holding grudges against those who have wronged you leads to God not listening to one’s prayers. “Injustice leads to pain, causing people to unconsciously hold grudges, which only grace can help them overcome.”
She added that egocentric attitudes and pride also prevent people from forgiving and letting go of grudges, but emphasized that people must try at all costs to forgive others to avoid holding lasting grudges.
Unresolved issues can lead to family inheriting them, which can extend to community, national, and business-to-business grudges,” she disclosed.
“Let us take heed of the advice and strive to create a culture of forgiveness, empathy, and understanding, where grudges are resolved, and relationships are healed,” she concluded.
On his part, Prophet Ebenezer Dunamis, Head Pastor of Army Of God Revival Centre, observed that individuals may unknowingly hold grudges against others, often arising from playful or seemingly insignificant incidents.
He stressed that holding grudges only harms the offended person, leading to emotional restriction and potentially even physical health problems. ”By holding onto grudges, we can become prisoners of our own bitterness, unable to move forward,” he disclosed.
To prevent health risks and break free from this emotional burden, Prophet Dunamis said, ”one must summon the courage to either forgive or confront the offender, address the issue and break free from the weight of grudges. By doing so, we can embrace the liberating power of forgiveness, restore relationships, and experience emotional and spiritual renewal.”
Prophet Dunamis in conclusion, said, ”forgiveness is not always easy, but it is always worth it.”
