The Director of the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) at the University of Ghana, Prof. Peter Quartey says the government will still have to continue the collection of the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-levy) despite the move to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a bailout.
Prof. Quartey however, added that the government must also initiate moves to have the charges on the levy reduced.
Reacting to this on Plan B FM ‘Ebaanosen’ hosted by Ohene Addo, Mr. Geoffrey Ocansey, a Tax Analyst said that he is very sure that professor Quartey has a reason for saying that but he do not side with him because Ghanaians have a negative impression about International
Monetary Fund courtesy the opposition NPP and Never supported E-levy so it will be unfair to impose the two on them.
He also said that the Akuffo Addo led Government have proven to be poor managers of the Economy.
Concluding, he said that it is time our leaders take us serious because they seem to be playing with our minds all the time.
