The Ashaiman Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chairman Joe, has blasted the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urging it to stop commenting on the just-ended Ayawaso East NDC parliamentary primary held on Saturday, January 7.
He swore to go naked on the streets of Ashaiman should the NPP win the 2028 general elections.
Reacting to the NPP’s comments on alleged vote-buying incidents at the Ayawaso East primary, which have generated discussions among party faithful and the general public, Chairman Joe referenced accusations against Hon. Mohammed Baba Jamal. The former MP reportedly resigned from his position as Ghana’s Ambassador to Nigeria to contest the Ayawaso East seat and has been accused of inducing delegates with television sets, boiled eggs and cash.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s EBANOSEN programme, Chairman Joe said the NPP is not in a position to lecture the NDC on the morality of vote buying in Ghanaian elections.
According to him, he condemns vote buying outright and welcomed President John Dramani Mahama’s decision to terminate the ambassadorial appointment and order investigations into the matter.
He, however, disagreed with calls for the cancellation of the primary, describing such demands as wrong and unnecessary.
In conclusion, Chairman Joe reiterated his confidence that the NPP will not return to power in 2028.
“If the New Patriotic Party wins power again, I will go naked,” he said.
