“I don’t know if royalties are based on song count, but i accept what i get” – Mama Esther

Veteran gospel musician Mama Esther has shared her thoughts on the distribution of royalties by the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), stating that she is unaware of the specific criteria used for payments. Speaking to Blutut Africa on Plan B 104.5 FM during the drive-time show, she mentioned that while she does not know if royalties are based on song count, she appreciates whatever amount she receives from GHAMRO.

During the interview, Mama Esther also reflected on the inspiration behind her debut album, Me Judge Akasa. She revealed that she had suffered frequent miscarriages but, through divine intervention, was finally able to carry a pregnancy to term, leading to the birth of her last child. This personal experience significantly influenced the message of her music.

Comparing past and present music promotion, she noted that in earlier years, traditional media was limited, yet a few radio stations playing a song could make it popular nationwide. In contrast, today’s music industry relies heavily on digital platforms, changing how music reaches audiences.

After a nine-year hiatus, Mama Esther is back with a brand-new single, Nyame Nye Mistake, featuring her daughter, Ella. This collaboration marks a new chapter in her musical journey, blending her signature gospel sound with a fresh perspective.

Fans and gospel music lovers can now stream Nyame Nye Mistake on all major digital platforms.
