Today, Thursday, December 9, 2021 is the International Anti-Corruption Day as to mark the day the Special Prosecutor gave a summary of how his office is faring. Kissi Agyebeng is the second and youngest Special Prosecutor of the country. He took over this year from Martin Amidu who had resigned last year over claims of government interference.

In his speech today, Kissi Agyebeng noted that he came to meet an office that was in reverse and as such had to put a lot of measures in place to ensure that things run smoothly. He added that currently there are no cases his office is pursuing in court after he had discontinued the case against Mahama Ayariga. Interesting, the Special Prosecutor boldly decaled that his office is investigating 31 cases and will soon prosecute the strong ones in court.

He called on Ghanaians to change their attitude and be honest. According to him the country can only grow with this trait. He called for support from Ghanaians as he works to turn the tide on corruption in the country. He charged that he will do everything without fear to ensure that corruption is lowered to its barest. he said from next year there will be a corruption league table that will show how institutions have fared. This table will be displayed on every 9th December. He concluded by saying that from next year all should expect much from his office in the fight against corruption.
