New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Kpone Katamanso constituency in the 2020 general elections and a member of the #FixingTheCountry movement has challenged Ghanaian youth to take their destinies into their own hands by coming out with innovative ideas to establish their own businesses for financial emancipation.
His call comes on the back of the large numbers of unemployed graduates parading the streets and offices on daily basis and the recent #FixtheCountry protest to demand better living conditions in the country.
Mr. Hopeson Adorye in an interview with Ohene Addo on Plan B FM ‘Nkosuo Nsem’ advised the youth to start their own small businesses, noting that, with time it would grow for them to reap the desired benefits.
“I am pleading with the youth. Unemployment is a global phenomenon, noting that government alone could not absorb the high number of graduates that come out of school every year. It is impossible. If you go to the US, it is only the military that is being controlled by the central government, even the Police does not belong to the government. Private individuals own over 90% of jobs in the US,” he remarked and added that it was high time the youth of the country take a second look at their current unemployment situations.
“What people lack is not the energy or desire to create wealth or jobs for themselves, instead the know-how because funding for entrepreneurship is not the biggest problem but the vision. I will urge the youth to use their social media platforms positively to help them to grow and create their businesses. There is money in the system,” he said.
