CAFCC: Hearts of Oak crashed out despite beating Real Bamako in Accra

CAF Confederations Cup: Hearts of Oak to face Real Bamako of Mali
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Ghana Premier League giants, Accra Hearts of Oak have been eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup qualifiers despite securing a late 1-0 victory over AS Real Bamako of Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium

The Phobians had to overturn a three goal  deficit from the first leg in Mali but struggled to find the back of the net, until the 89th when Caleb Amankwah scored what will was the only goal of the game.

The goal turned out to be a consolation for the Phobians as it was not enough to prevent them from exiting the competition after losing 3-1 on aggregate.

Hearts struggled to break down the AS Bamako defense, and it took until the 45th minute for the Phobians to get their first shot on target via Konadu Yiadom.

In the second half, Assistant coach, David Ocloo made changes, bringing on Obeng Junior, Seidu Salifu and Mohamed Alhassaan, in an attempt to get a goal.

However the Malians remained compact at the back for most of the second half until Amankwah’s goal.
