Health Ministry probes Ridge Hospital after fourth estate exposé

Health Ministry probes Ridge Hospital after fourth estate exposé
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Ministry of Health has announced the establishment of an investigative committee to examine allegations raised in an investigative report by media outfit The Fourth Estate concerning the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Ridge.

In a press release, the Ministry said it has taken note of the widely circulated report and expressed sympathy with patients and relatives who may have suffered any form of unprofessional conduct within health facilities across the country. Government, it stressed, remains committed to reducing the stress and financial burden patients face in accessing healthcare.

The Ministry described some of the revelations in the report as “deeply concerning” and said the issues raised deserve thorough examination. As a result, an investigative committee is being constituted to look into the matter.

The committee is expected to submit its findings within fourteen working days. The Ministry has also called on all relevant stakeholders, including The Fourth Estate, to fully cooperate to help establish the facts, ensure accountability, and improve service delivery within Ghana’s health system.
