Parliament yesterday saw a reminisce of what had happened on the night of January 7, 2021. The house of Parliament has seen sharp differences as a result of the yet to be approved e-levy which the government feels will lead to massive improvement in the country. The Minority have however tried to resist this and called for a total scrap of the levy as it will end up impoverishing the already burdened Ghanaian.
In Parliament yesterday, there was a trade of blows as MPs from both side tried to secure the Speaker’s seat. Bagbin was absent towards the evening and his seat was taken over by the First Deputy Speaker. However, as voting became imminent on a Division call made by Muntaka Mubarak, the First Deputy Speaker noted that he will join in the voting.
At one-point Joseph Osei Owusu rose up to be replaced by the 2nd Deputy Speaker. The Minority however interpreted it to mean that Joe Wise wanted to go and vote and return as Speaker for the 2nd Speaker to also go and vote. Both sides descended on the Speaker’s seat and in a low moment of the house traded blows.
“He was shaking like a leaf and had to leave and take his medicine” Kyei Mensah said
