‘He was asleep’ – Driver Dead After Falling Asleep While Driving

‘He was asleep’ – Driver Dead After Falling Asleep While Driving
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Anthony Brakw, a driver of a ToyotaCorolla sedan vehicle, has been confirmed dead after crashing at Bechem. Anthony who was confirmed dead at 3:40 AM today was driving from Bechem Baptist Church road towards Kumasi Highway when he crashed at the Baptis Church junction.

The junction that connects the Baptist Church road to the Bechem to Kumasi road, was where Anthony fell asleep on the wheels and crashed a mango tree at the junction. The wife of Anthony, a nursing mother to a six-month-old baby, survived the accident together with the baby whiles Anthony was confirmed dead.

According to reports from the wife, Cecilia Brakwa, the husband was asleep and that may have constituted the accident. We were coming from Techimantia, heading to Asuadei for a wedding program. I was in the backseat with my baby and we were discussing while he drove. He suddenly went mute and never talked back to me.

I tapped his shoulders and he was almost asleep. That was at Dwommo. I don’t know how to drive so we agree he was going to take a minute break when we get to Bechem. The road was scary and we couldn’t stop because of fear of being robbed.

He started playing music to get himself occupied but he fell asleep again. I think he was tired. I shouted at him when I saw the car heading to the tree. He was to slow down at the junction but when he failed to do so, was when I realised he was asleep
