Hajia Amina Adam has formally declared her intention to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries in the East Ayawaso Constituency, following the death of her husband, who previously served the constituency with distinction.
In a press release dated January 22, 2026, Hajia Amina Adam described the period since January 4 as one of the most difficult moments of her life, marked by the sudden loss of her husband, whom she described as a leader and mentor to both herself and her children. She expressed gratitude to the community for the love and support shown to her family during the period of mourning.
According to her statement, persistent calls from community members, including elders, grassroots supporters, chiefs, imams, women, and the youth, have urged her to step forward and continue the legacy of service left by her late husband. After careful reflection, she said she has accepted the call to serve the people of East Ayawaso.
Hajia Amina Adam emphasized that her decision was driven by the collective will of the people and her commitment to public service, despite the personal challenges she is currently facing. She assured constituents that she would not disappoint them if given the mandate.
With the Electoral Commission declaring the parliamentary seat vacant and the NDC issuing notice for primaries, Hajia Amina Adam has officially submitted herself to contest for the position of Member of Parliament on the ticket of the party.
She noted that her motivation stems from her concern for women, children, the poor, the vulnerable, widows, orphans, and unemployed youth within the constituency, pledging to continue the development agenda and social interventions initiated by her late husband.
The statement concluded with a message of appreciation to supporters and prayers for continued unity and progress within the East Ayawaso Constituency.
