A 17-year-old student identified as Charity Eze, has been murdered by unidentified gunmen in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
The teenager, who is a student in St. Monica Girls Secondary School, Otukpo was shot in the head at about 10:30pm on Friday, June 10, at her father’s residence on No. 38 Idikwu Road, Punch reports.
The deceased had gone to retrieve her clothes which she had hung to dry earlier in the day when two men jumped over the fence and shot her on the forehead.
Charity’s younger sister identified as Rosemary reportedly witnessed the incident and ran back into the house to inform their father.
The assailants reportedly fled the scene after the murder.
The victim was writing the ongoing West African School Certificate (WASC) Examination and her last paper was on Tuesday.
The spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident.
“The death of the student is confirmed. It happened on Friday.” She told the publication.
