GSA dismisses reports of cement price increase as false

The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) has debunked claims circulating on social media about an impending increase in the price of cement, describing the information as false and misleading.

In a public notice issued on Saturday, January 17, 2026, the Authority clarified that no directive has been issued to increase cement prices by GH₵6 on Monday, January 19, 2026, as widely reported. According to the GSA, the Cement Manufacturing Development Committee of which it is a member has not taken any decision to adjust cement prices.

The GSA has therefore urged the public to disregard the false notice and advised consumers and stakeholders to verify information through its official communication channels before taking any action.
