GPL: Techiman Eleven Wonders Hold Kotoko In Season Opener

Kumasi Asante Kotoko were held to a 1-1 draw by Techiman Eleven Wonders at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday in their 2020/21Ghana Premier League season opener.

Asante Kotoko were huge favourites going into the match after making some big signings in pre-season but the Techiman-based club proved stubborn making the porcupine warriors look ordinary.

Maxwell Konadu’s side were poor defensively and made some unpardonable mistakes but thanks to the sterling performance from their goalkeeper Felix Annan, they were kept in the game.

In the 54th minute, Kotoko striker Kwame Poku capitalized on a defensive blunder to open the scoring for the Porcupine Warriors.

Techiman Eleven wonders kept pressing and pushing and were rewarded with an equalizer with the introduction of striker Prince Okraku who found time and space inside the box to rifle home in the 76th minute, 1-1.

Moving on, Kotoko were short of ideas upfront and could not make attempts at finding the match-winner. Wonders however, will be satisfied with the point earned.
