GPL: Kwame Opoku scores again as Kotoko share spoils with Medeama

GPL: Kwame Opoku scores again as Kotoko share spoils with Medeama
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Medeama SC and Asante Kotoko settled for a 1-1 draw in a closely contested match at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Sunday.

The result ended Kotoko’s four-game winning streak while denying Medeama a chance to secure consecutive victories under interim coach Evans Adotey.

Kwame Opoku gave Kotoko the lead in the 44th minute, continuing his impressive form with goals in successive games since his return to the club. The visitors looked on course for a fifth straight win as they controlled the first half with a solid defensive display.

However, Medeama found their rhythm after the break, with coach Adotey’s tactical changes proving decisive. Substitute Kamaradini Mamudu levelled the score midway through the second half, pouncing on a defensive lapse to the delight of the home crowd.

Both teams pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but neither side could find the decisive goal. The result leaves Kotoko frustrated as they lose momentum in their chase for the league’s top spot, while Medeama showed resilience to salvage a point in front of their supporters.

Kotoko will hope to bounce back in their next fixture, while Medeama continue their search for consistency.
