Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has praised his players for fighting to secure all three points from their showdown with bitter rivals Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors played away from home and put up a good display in their quest to overcome the Phobians in the first Super Clash of the ongoing Ghanaian top-flight league campaign.
In the highly anticipated showdown between the two most successful Ghanaian clubs, a solitary strike from Guinean striker Morifing Donzo secured all three points for Asante Kotoko.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Karim Zito acknowledged how tough the match was, stressing that the determined mindset of his players propelled them to victory.
“Everybody knows Hearts and Kotoko, how difficult it is. You see the supporters today, everybody is happy. It was very difficult, but the mindset was there to win this game because winning this game would help us towards our objective,” Karim Zito said.
Following the win over Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko are now unbeaten in their first six matches in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
With three outstanding matches, the Reds are well on course as far as challenging for the league title is concerned.
