Abdul Karim Zito has officially resigned from his role as Kumasi Asante Kotoko Head Coach.

The club announced Zito’s resignation via a statement release in the lead up to Kotoko’s big game against arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday, February 15 at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Kotoko rank fifth in the league after drawing twice and losing twice in their last five games including a 3-1 loss to Kpando Heart of Lions in the Ghana Premier League at the time of writing.

In the MTN FA Cup, the defending champions got kicked out at the round of 16 stage by Aduana Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. Kotoko played out a goalless draw with Aduana but suffered a 4-2 loss in the penalty shootout.

Speaking after the game, Kotoko assistant coach Prince Owusu said elimination from the FA Cup was embarrassing. Under Zito, Kotoko won the FA Cup, President’s Cup and Champion of Champions Cup (Super Cup). Scroll down to read Kotoko’s official statement on Karim Zito’s resignation.
