Hearts of Oak rebounded strongly from a poor run of results to record a crucial 2-0 victory over Nations FC on Friday.
This much-needed win comes on the heels of a disheartening 2-0 defeat to archrivals Asante Kotoko on Sunday, which had left the Phobians perilously close to the relegation zone.
With just two points separating them from the danger zone prior to the match, Hearts of Oak delivered a spirited performance to climb higher up the league table.
The Phobians’ quick start saw them score two goals early in the match, effectively ending their back-to-back losses.
Aboubakar Ouattara’s side triumphed over the newly promoted Nations FC in the matchday 32 fixture, with goals from club top scorer Hamza Issah and Ivorian import Kassim Cisse securing the victory.
Cisse opened the scoring in the 7th minute, connecting beautifully with a cross from left-back Dennis Nkrumah Korsah. They doubled their advantage just moments later when Hamza Issah netted his 14th goal of the campaign, receiving a precise pass from Congolese midfielder Linda Mtange.

The victory is a significant boost for Hearts in their relegation battle, moving them five points clear of the danger zone in the league standings. This win is particularly crucial as it lifts the team’s morale and provides momentum for the remaining fixtures.

Meanwhile, Nations FC’s hopes for the premiership title have faded following Friday’s defeat. They have now lost each of their last five matches on the road without scoring a goal. Kassim Mingle Ocansey’s team are trailing league leaders FC Samartex 1996 by seven points, with only two games left in the season.
With the victory, Hearts of Oak are hoping to maintain their momentum as they prepare to face two strong opponents, Great Olympics and Bechem United, in their final fixtures of the season. This win not only boosts their confidence but also enhances their chances of staying clear of the relegation zone as the season draws to a close.
