Nations FC and Hearts of Oak played out a 0-0 draw at the Dr Kwame Kyei Stadium in Abrankese on Sunday afternoon, with neither team managing to find a breakthrough despite their best efforts.
Fresh off a win against Aduana, Nations FC held 55% of possession, while Hearts of Oak, who were coming off their first victory of the season against Bechem United, showed greater attacking intent.
Hearts registered 14 goal attempts compared to Nations 11.
Both sides tested the goalkeepers with four shots on target each, and four crucial saves were made by both teams.
However, the game ended in a stalemate, leaving the teams to split the points.
Nations FC will next face Dreams FC, while Hearts of Oak gear up for a tough encounter against Aduana Stars.
Meanwhile, at the Golden City Park, Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko also shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Kotoko took an early lead just three minutes into the game when Kyei Dwamena capitalized on a pass from Dauda Saaka.
However, Berekum Chelsea equalized in the 60th minute, with captain Fuseini Zakaria slotting home to level the score.
For Kotoko, this was their second consecutive draw, extending their winless run since their opening-day victory against Karela United.
Berekum Chelsea, on the other hand, also has just one win this season, coincidentally also against Karela. Kotoko will meet Nsoatreman in a rescheduled match on Wednesday, while Berekum Chelsea face Young Apostles.
Over at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park,Medeama SC kept their perfect record intact with a 2-1 win over Basake Holy Stars.
Defender Kamaradini Mamudu opened the scoring for Medeama in the 58th minute, but Holy Stars quickly responded, equalizing through Isaah Yakubu just two minutes later.
However, Medeama’s Diawisie Taylor secured victory with a brilliant long-range effort in the 65th minute, earning his side their third straight win of the season.
Despite Holy Stars dominating possession (54%-46%) and attempting more shots (14-6), they couldn’t manage a second victory this season, remaining winless since their opening-day success against Hearts of Oak.
Medeama SC will next face Heart of Lions, while Holy Stars are set to play Vision FC.
At the Kpando Sports Stadium, Heart of Lions and Bibiani Gold Stars played to a goalless draw. Both teams entered the match unbeaten and were eager to protect their records.
Gold Stars, looking for a third straight win, posed a constant threat, but Lions held firm.
The hosts also had chances but couldn’t capitalize, with Gold Stars’ defence and goalkeeper Kobi putting up a strong display.
The draw leaves Lions in 4th place with 6 points, while Gold Stars, a point ahead, sit in 2nd position.
Heart of Lions will face Medeama in their next match, while Gold Stars travel to Samartex for their next game.
