Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Salim Adams proved decisive for Medeama SC, scoring the only goal to stun his old employers in a 1-0 victory in their matchday 17 Ghana Premier League clash at the TNA Stadium.
Adams, who previously donned the famous rainbow colours of the Phobians, admitted the fixture provided extra motivation ahead of Sunday’s encounter, but insisted his confidence lay in the strength of his current squad.
He backed up those words on the pitch, firing Medeama into the lead in the 74th minute with a superb strike to secure all three points for the Mauve and Yellows, who have led the league table for much of the season.

The goal marked Adams’ second for Medeama in 14 appearances, following his maiden strike for the club in their matchday 13 home win against Berekum Chelsea.

His standout display against his former side earned him the Man of the Match award.
The result further consolidates Medeama SC’s position at the top of the table with 34 points, having recorded nine wins, seven draws and one defeat in the first round of the league, scoring 22 goals and conceding 10 under head coach Ibrahim Tanko.
For Accra Hearts of Oak, the defeat leaves them fifth on the standings with 28 points, from seven wins, seven draws and three losses under head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.
Up next, Hearts of Oak will travel to face Hohoe United at the Hohoe Sports Stadium on January 11 in the matchday 18 fixture, while Medeama SC will host Young Apostles at the TNA Stadium on the same date.
