Gov’t Orders NTC To Wrap Up Final Licensure Exams By August 30

LGBTQ+ is repugnant to my values and ethics – Haruna Iddrisu

The Ministry of Education has directed the National Teaching Council (NTC) to collaborate with its Registrar to finalise arrangements for a final sitting of the current teacher licensure examinations, stressing that this opportunity must not go beyond August 30.

The directive was issued by Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu during the inauguration of the newly constituted board of the NTC.

He explained that the deadline is part of a broader transition plan toward a new framework for assessing teacher qualifications.

While commending the board for its progressive proposals, the Minister revealed that the upcoming framework will prioritise academic training and practical fieldwork over standardised licensure exams, aiming to better align teacher preparation with classroom realities.

“The last of it must be concluded not later than 30th August. If there is a last opportunity for those who sat and couldn’t make it, that process should not travel beyond 30th August. You are to work with the registrar, get us a firm date, and we’ll put that off,” he stated.
