The Ghana Scholarships Secretariat has officially announced the opening of applications for local tertiary scholarships for the 2026/2027 academic year.

In a statement issued in Accra on April 20, 2026, the Secretariat—under the Office of the President—invited qualified Ghanaian students who have secured admission into recognized tertiary institutions across the country to apply. The scholarship scheme is designed to support academically gifted but financially disadvantaged students in pursuing higher education.

According to the release, the application window runs from Monday, April 20, 2026, to Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Authorities have urged applicants to adhere strictly to the deadline, stressing that late submissions will not be considered.

Prospective applicants are required to complete the process online through the official scholarship portal. They must fill out the application form and upload all necessary supporting documents as part of the submission.

The initiative forms part of government efforts to expand access to tertiary education and ease the financial burden on deserving students nationwide.
