Ghana Rice Millers Association has kicked against government’s decision to put a 30% discount on general goods and a 19% discount on imported vehicles into the country after some members of the trading community fought against the scrapping of the benchmark value policy.
Mr yaw Opoku convener for Ghana rice millers Association speaking to Bohyeba Afriyie on plan B FM’s Ebanoosen revealed that all farmers and manufacturers are not happy about the revised bench mark value and all they will want is for it to scrapped totally .
He said that they are not saying this because they are haters of importers but rather their main objective as local manufacturers is to help The Government build the nation and with that a lot of revenue will be needed so why dash a sector some percentage of the levy on the goods they import.
He also said that he thinks the Government reconsidered the benchmark value because of political pressure been mounted on it.
He also said that the bench mark value is pushing investors away.
He concluded that the Government must firmly take right decisions to help develop the country .
